PUFF-PASTRY CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE AND CARAMEL FILLING

Making this cake is very simple (if you have ready puff in hand!), just sieve the icing sugar, add some chocolate drops (those for baking), roll, and bake or airfry!

  • 1 roll of ready puff pastry dough. I bought it ready-made from the supermarket for convenience. The one I bought was around 300g, enough to make 4-5 pieces as shown in the picture.
  • 1 handful of chocolate drops for baking. It should be the type specifically for baking, as regular chocolate may melt and spread, making it unsuitable for this recipe.
  • About 50g of powdered icing sugar.

  • Lay the puff pastry on the kitchen counter and sprinkle a thin layer of powdered icing sugar.
  • Fold it in half. Sprinkle another layer of powdered icing sugar.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate drops onto the puff.
  • Roll the dough as shown in the picture. Remember to fold the edges tightly to prevent the dough from opening up during baking.
  • Use a knife to cut the rolled dough into pieces about 4-5 cm thick.
  • Place the pieces on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Since you only have 4-5 pieces, you can use an  air fryer for convenience. Make sure to line the air fryer basket with parchment paper, too!
  • *If using an air fryer: bake at 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) for the first 15 minutes. Then, flip the cakes over to cook the other side until it turns golden brown, which usually takes an additional 7-10 minutes. The cakes should be golden brown, and the baking time may vary depending on the size of the cakes.
  • *If using an oven: Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius (392 degrees Fahrenheit) and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the cakes are cooked and golden brown.
  • Allow them to cool before enjoying. Eating them while still warm is even more enticing. :D
